Agriculture is so important to our existence that one could say “human” was defined as such due to our ability to farm! Before you start eating it, however, most of the food you eat goes through another very unique form of agricultural production called aquaculture (the farming or cultivation of aquatic organisms like fish, shellfish, and aquatic plants). Aquaculture first originated on an experimental basis in China about 4500 years ago and since then it has become a crucial part of marine industries around the world now producing over 70 % of all seafood!

The food industry has a lot of influence on people’s eating habits. Corporations are often criticized for how they influence consumers and transform their eating habits, such as the Florida-based Coca-Cola Company. It has been alleged that these companies give donations to health organizations including The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) in order to make people more likely to buy and consume products made by them. Although health organizations accept donations from companies in question, some critics believe that accepting money from corporations inhibits a group like AAFP from taking actions that would be beneficial to public health. These corporations may also donate money only if there is a business gain for them – it’s very likely the company might not support a Health program just because they have an interest in making people healthier overall.
