Gold coast girl a Chicago-based fashion lifestyle guide

It’s no wonder that people are constantly on the move! With so much to do and see, it’s hard to stay in one place for too long. Whether it’s for work or for pleasure, there always seems to be somewhere new to go. Maybe it’s because I’ve been known to move around a lot recently. I understand how it feels to be constantly packing and unpacking, never quite feeling settled. See Gold coast girl a Chicago-based fashion lifestyle guide and create plans to visit in Chicago. But I’ve gotten a lot of questions lately about moving to Chicago, finding apartments, picking a neighborhood, etc.

It will be four years this summer since I moved from New York City to my apartment in the Gold Coast of Chicago. You might know that my living situation was a little up in the air last year…I had Sublette’s, I stayed with family and friends, and then I took an unplanned four-month Remote Year trip throughout Latin America. But now I’m back to my old apartment and happy to be home.

When I moved to Chicago, I took my time choosing a neighborhood. I wanted a place that was easy to walk around in, like New York City. If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you know that I love being out and about, walking around. So I needed a neighborhood that would be easy to get around in without a car. And if I did need to take public transportation, I wanted it to be convenient.

I chose to live on the Gold Coast in Chicago and I love it here! It might not be the best neighborhood for everyone, as it really varies depending on lifestyle and preferences, but it works great for me. I get a lot of questions on Instagram from people asking what neighborhood they should move to when they come to Chicago, and it’s tough to answer without knowing more about them. Chicago neighborhoods can vary greatly, but I wanted to share why I enjoy living in this part of the city.

I have to say, four years ago, the Gold Coast wasn’t as vibrant as it is now. There’s been a resurgence in the neighborhood and so many new businesses have recently opened up. And it’s all for the better… I love my neighborhood more and more every day! I like to say I called it, and that I just knew that the neighborhood had so much potential.

No matter if you’re visiting the Gold Coast or are a Chicago native, this list of my favorite spots in the neighborhood is the best of the best! From great restaurants to landmark theaters, there’s something for everyone in this amazing area of the city.

Chicago little guide: Gold coast

Coffee & cafes:

3 Arts Café at Restoration Hardware is a great place to get coffee and cookies.

Cafecito is Kate’s favorite Cuban café.

Dollop is a little bit off the beaten path, but it’s a hidden gem in the neighborhood.

La Colombe’s Oatmilk Draft Black & Tan is really good, and their iced vanilla latte is also great. At Petite Margaux, you can get a rosé during happy hour.

Brunch:

If you’re in the mood for some stunning décor and delicious food and drinks, Somerset at the Viceroy is the place to be. Or, if you’re looking for something a bit more low-key, head on over to Original Pancake House. You won’t be disappointed!

Quick bites:

If you’re ever in the mood for some good Velvet Tacos, trust me, they’re the best! And if you get hungry after midnight, they’re open until the wee hours of the morning. If you’re looking for some great salads, sandwiches, and grab-and-go snacks, Goddess & Grocer is a great option. And if you’re heading out to Oak Street Beach, make sure to stop by and grab your picnic provisions! Aster Hall is a newly renovated food hall that’s definitely worth checking out. They have a great selection of food from the Hog salt restaurant group and their bar has some incredible cocktails!

Drinks:

Drum Bar is a fantastic spot in the neighborhood that not a lot of people know about. If you’re looking for a place to take a date, this is one of my favorites. They have a great indoor area, but my favorite part is the outdoor rooftop.

Gibson’s Patio is perfect for people watching and it’s one of the best patios in the neighborhood. If you can’t get a table at Gibson’s, try to grab one outside at Tavern on Rush instead.

Deveraux Rooptop at the Viceroy is a great place to go for happy hour. It can get pretty lively during the day on a summer weekend, but it’s still a great spot to grab a drink with some friends.

Dinner:

Looking for a great spot to enjoy a delicious meal or a drink in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood? Check out Hugo’s, Maple & Ash, or Margeaux! All three places offer unique dining experiences that are sure to please.
